Keiko Niitsuma
A lively conversation with a mix of English and Japanese – that’s how we met Keiko in Hiroshima in 2019, when we were looking for dinner and found Okonomyaki Junior, where she occasionally helps out.
We’ve stayed in touch ever since and are thrilled that Keiko will now be part of BEHIND MIRRORS. Her fantastic eye for moments and details is extremely fascinating in our opinion. It matches what Keiko says about herself, “When I take photos, I always wait for THAT FEELING before I trigger the shutter release. I will always love to take a photo that impresses other people and puts a smile on their face.”
“Her paintings are magical and captivate the eye.”

I started to get interested in photography after my grandfather left me numerous wonderful photographs. I then wanted to be able to shoot THE one photo at the right moment myself and got myself my own camera. After first working as a wedding photographer’s assistant, I am now self-employed as a freelancer. My favorite subjects are portraits, landscapes and detail shots. Together with my mother and her many years of nursing experience, I also have the goal to improve the lives of people in need of care with my photography.
